Labels and measurements. Don't let them define you. Sometimes they can be helpful, other times not so much. I started this year obese. This label, believe it or not, was motivational. Yep, it scared me and made me get my fat arse into gear once again. ✅ Helpful. 🙂 I have lost weight throughout the year, sometimes slowly, other times a bit faster. (The image is my weight from December 30, 2018 until today. I was using a different app midyear.) I now work hard at the gym and eat well most of the time. I actually feel pretty good in my skin, at least on good days. So, I checked my BMI again today, only to discover I am still considered overweight and am a long way off 'ideal'. WTF?! ❌ Not helpful! Not happy, Jan. 😡 Clearly my ideal doesn't match the BMI scale, because even at my goal weight (not there yet), I will be 25.2 and still 'overweight'. Sometimes I reckon we just have to trust our instincts and throw away the tables, scales and measurements.
Delicious vegan nachos with jackfruit and cashew cheese, accompanied by a watermelon frappe. (Photo does not do justice.) This is my second time having jackfruit as a meat substitute and I'm a fan. I'm making a plan to source jackfruit and find a recipe to try at home over the holidays. This meal tasted so good! I'll be going back for sure.
First hail storm of the season. This is as close as we get to snow in our part of the world.
We celebrated a friend's 50th the other day with a ladies lunch out. My very talented friend @julz_0166 made these beautiful cupcakes with so much love. Of course, they were absolutely delicious!
Just for laughs, this is my husband and I attending our first U2 concert way back in 1989. So excited to see them again next week. Can you guess who's the bigger fan? It's certainly not a great photo of either of us, but such a classic 80s shot. Look at that mullet on Glen! He loved it but I can't say I did. My hair? Well, there was a whole lot more of it back then too and it was SO 80s! 😂🤣
How do you like my pretty pink painted foot? Just when I was resigned to 6 weeks off my feet, everything changed. My body has been working hard and my ligaments are all healing nicely, with no artificial ligament required after all. This, despite being told one was 'highly unlikely' to heal itself. I'm calling this a minor miracle. It took an entire day of waiting and recovering after a very short day surgery to discover this and now I'm getting my mind around being able to do most of what I want straight away. Feeling grateful.
